Fresh from appearing in the 2011 BFI London Film Festival, short film Friend Request Pending, starring Dame Judi Dench with original score by Michael Ferguson, has been included in the Official Selection of the forthcoming 2012 London Short Film Festival. The film was screened on 8th January 2012 at Hackney Picture House.
About Michael
Michael Ferguson is a Scottish-based composer of concert, choral and film music.
Born in 1982, Michael grew up in Portstewart, Northern Ireland. He studied Music at Edinburgh University, and graduated with a First Class Honours degree in 2006. He was subsequently awarded an AHRC scholarship to undertake a Masters in Composition of Music for Film and Television at Bristol University, graduating in 2008 with Distinction.
Michael is steadily gaining a reputation as a composer of new choral and liturgical music. He is currently Composer-in-Residence at St Mary’s Metropolitan Cathedral Edinburgh, where recent commissions have included Metropolitan Mass, a new Mass setting in celebration of the Silver Jubilee of Cardinal Keith Patrick O’Brien.
As a composer of music for film and animation, Michael’s music has appeared on BBC TV, at the BAFTA Scotland Awards, and at film festivals worldwide.
